The myth of Lilith is an old Hebrew tale from the books of Zohar - extra stories that never made it into the Tanakh proper - that speaks of the first wife of Adam, before Eve. Lilith fled from Adam and wed herself to Sammael, the fallen angel who carved Hell from the rock of the void with his teeth. God, not willing to be defied, cursed Lilith and her line to an eternity of death and misery, for which Lilith pledges her own revenge. Abashed I Stood follows the life of David Pollux Martin, a child set aside from even before his birth to bring Lilith's humanity back to her. |
