Fet MilnerFet Milner is a New Zealand writer now based in Cambridge, England. He has written for a number of publications, including Critic, Glottis, Litter, Deep South and his High School magazine (though that memory is now professionally embarrassing). He currently works as a writer and editor for a computer game developer. Before seriously undertaking a career in writing, Fet completed a Master of Arts degree majoring in English Literature. The topic of his thesis was the interplay of classical mythology and popular culture in Salman Rushdie's 1999 novel, The Ground beneath her Feet. Fet is now working on a new novel, tentatively entitled The Sand Eater, and a collection of short stories, which he is toying with claiming are 'based on a selection of true stories' - even though that's an outright lie. For a sample of Fet's shorter works that are unlikely to ever see the light of publication again, please read the Other writing section of this website. Although, given that his next novel is about a serial killer and he has written extensively on the topic in a magazine column (The Grotesque), this may be a less than wise idea for those of a queasy disposition. Abashed I Stood Published in 2007, Abashed I Stood is a novel about the role of man in Creation, the fallibility of God, and the nature of shame. It is written in a largely magic realist mode, though his publisher was quite certain it was science fiction until corrected.
